Update for goslings: Forum will be moving servers

The majority of you have realised that Garden of Shadows is down, and if you visit the site regularly then you will have noticed the thread regarding the complaint that the host received from TSR.

TSR sent a complaint email to GoDaddy, GoS’ and DP’s host, claiming that we were redistributing copyrighted content. Not only do TSR have no legal claim over sims CC but the content was in Media Fire links not on our server. We have never hosted this content on our server and as such Liegen made a counter claim.

GoDaddy has wrongly placed the forum and site offline for 10-14 business days (2-3 weeks) because of TSR’s accusation. Note that TSR have barely any ground to stand on in such an accusation so the only reason GoS is currently down is because GoDaddy are a shoddy host and have a reputation for rolling over when they receive any legal notice.

So are we going to wait 3 weeks and go back to a rubbish host? Of course not.

We are currently organising moving to a new server as soon as possible and we will keep you all updated when we have more news. We have a recent backup of the site from Saturday so the majority of posts and threads are safe.

This is being cross posted at my private DW journal, LJ and Nocturnal, to attempt to inform as many of you as possible. jenfold also has an entry about this and may update that to include any news when we have it.

Thank you for the update. Glad to hear things are still going on behind the scenes :) I just read some of the GoDaddy horror stories and it sounds like they're complete twats. :o

Here's to GoS' swift recovery and all that! ;D

Thanks for the info, nymphy. I was wondering what the hell was going on! Luckily I know what's going on now :)
I curse those TSR twats >.< May they choke on their own stupid files! This goes for that GoDaddy too, they don't even bother to listen to the other side of the story!

That's seriously not fair. GoDaddy shouldn't be such idiotic nutballs. And when will TSR ever quit!? If the internet police don't do something soon, there won't be any free sites left. They've reached a new low, and that's definitely not okay.

I can't believe I registered for them for Sims 1 stuff back in the day. T_T

Whereas I won't pay for content, I will pay to support free quality sim sites and yours is my favorite. I will pledge 20 dollars to the cause if it will help. I know 20 dollars is a drop in the bucket but I want to help. I am like a coffee junkie that standing in front of the burnt out husk of her favorite coffee shop, tears silently running down my face, empty coffee cup in hand.

Thank you so much for letting us know. I've been searching to try to find out what happened. It's just so ridiculous that TSR would pull this crap. Garden of Shadows is my all time favorite site! I am so furious with them. But I am excited that you guys are moving hosts! I can't wait!

You guys should try lunarpages. I've been using them to host my website. It's only around $150 for a two year basic hosting plan which has unlimited bandwidth and unlimited storage. They give you a bunch of other free software and templates to use if you're not too code savvy.
